I grew up in the beautiful province of Drenthe in the north of the Netherlands. After completing my law degree, I spent many years working as a lawyer at large international firms in Amsterdam’s Zuidas district. There, I advised companies and investors on high-stake strategic transactions—often complex in nature, involving high stakes andwith tight deadlines. Today, I now find it especially particularly rewarding to apply leverage my personal background and professional experience to bridge different worlds and translate legal complexity complexities where needed: foradvising regional clients conducting business with national or international dimensionsbusiness interests, as well as for clients from outside the region — or outside beyond the Netherlands — who are active or investingseeking to invest or operate in the northern part of the country.
Jordi advises companies, investors, and management teams on a broad wide range of corporate transactions such as, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures, minority investments, corporate restructurings, and management incentive schemes. He also regularly advises clients on general corporate matters such as corporate governance and commercial transactions. Jordi hasWith a particular interest in matters related to the energy transition, Jordi specializes in matters at the intersection of corporate law and public regulation.
Jordi Wals holds an LL.M. in Company Law from Leiden University. He began his legal career in 2011 at Linklaters, where he workedworking both in Amsterdam and Madrid. Between From 2018 and to 2021, he practiced as an independent lawyer, including serving as M&A counsel at ASML, and in 2020 he co-founded a boutique firm focused onspecializing in corporate and energy law. He later joined Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Amsterdam. Since April 2025, Jordi has been a partner atjoined Yspeert Advocaten as a partner in April 2025.
